We are so excited about Mistletoe 2012! The largest fundraiser of the year for the Junior League of Jackson, it is the official "kickoff" of the holiday season for shoppers in the state of Mississippi. Vendors from all over Mississippi and even surrounding states come to the Trade Mart to set up booths and sell popular items from cookbooks to cookies, jewelry to apparel, and much more!
Fresh Ink has a booth every year, selling some of our favorite products and meeting new friends, but we are also involved in other ways to help make Mistletoe Marketplace a success. One of the items we are commissioned each year to do is create a beautiful custom invitation for the Mistletoe Corporate Sponsors party. The event celebrates the generous donations of corporate gifts to the event, and is always a wonderful fete.
The banner for Mistletoe 2012 has a beautiful old world inspired color pallette.
We started with the beautiful new 2012 Mistletoe Marketplace logo (shown above) as our inspiration. When asked about the elegant look of this year's logo, Amanda Puckett, Mistletoe Marketplace co-chair said "we wanted to convey a look of old world elegance, and the emblem was inspired from a carving on a pair of antique French doors." Inspiration can come from anywhere, and Mistletoe Marketplace chair, Danielle Correro notes, "the doors that provided the inspiration were actually from a Palm Beach, Florida antiques gallery!"
The neutral and rustic elements are so popular in home decor, and the pop of orange (this year's 'IT' color) adds just the right amount of drama to get your attention. We can't wait to see all the wonderful decorations that will transform the trade mart from a blank slate to an elegant and inspired atmosphere!
To translate the feel of the new 'look' onto paper, we started with the brown and orange color pallette, and used classic fonts that had an "engraved" feel. We printed the invitation on a textured watercolor paper, and then mounted the rustic watercolor paper card onto a gold shimmer backer card to give the piece weight and elegance. The ivory envelopes were printed with the return address in chocolate ink.
